M (strong contributor for a mid major team)
M+ (capable of contributing to a big time program, can help a super mid major crack the rankings)
B (Big Time prospect, top 75 in the country)
P (Pro Prospect directly from high school, given out once every 5-10 years)
Posts
Barry Cornish - (6'5, Landsdown, forward). Barry is a tough hard nosed ball player that plays much bigger than 6'5. Strong rebounder with a nose for the ball and developing post skills. He has the body and strength of a power forward. Has received D2 and D3 attention but can and probably should play at the D1 level. Grade L.
Gordon Chase - (6'4, St Frances, forward). Can very well turn out to be similar to Coppin State Grad Larry Tucker. Is undersized for his position but understands how to use his body to rarely get his shot blocked. Has strong post skills, a massive poward forwards body, and a high basketball IQ. Has received D2 and D3 attention but wants to play at the D1 level. How many teams wish they had a Larry Tucker, well here's your chance Grade L.
Wings/Swings
Rudy Gay - (6'7, Spalding, forward). Rudy is a household name and you have to see it to believe it. Grade B.
Jamal Smith - (6'4, Towson Catholic, forward). The quickest first step in the City, can get into the paint against anyone and draws fouls. Shooting stroke is solid but will improve with more repetitions. Strong defender that will take charges and block shots. Very mentally tough that keeps his game face on throughout the game. Good student. Committed to Wagner. Grade M.
Justin Drummond - (6'6, McDonough, guard/forward). Very long and wiry player with improving shot, a guards handle and good athleticism. Most potential in the class of 2004. Can stay in front of guards defensively. Will try and dunk it on you just for fun. Great all around game with unlimited potential. Committed to Wagner Grade M.
Gordon Brown - (6'3, St Frances, guard/forward). Brown is a strong and built player that plays to win. Can guard the 1 thru the 3 effectively. Has a nose for the ball and a great offensive rebounder. Super athlete that gets off the floor in a hurry. Your never out of the game with players like Brown on the floor. Grade L+, but will likely opt for Juco.
Paris Carter - (6'4, Lake Clifton, guard/forward). Carter can really shoot it from deep. Carter has a man's body and strength and plays to win, its hard to beleive that paris does not hit the wieghts. There is something about the Lake Clifton players, these are some of the meanest guys you ever want to compete with on the floor but the nicest young men off of the floor. Paris is true to form, he will scratch and claw and nail big shots for the win. Super athlete that gets off the floor in a hurry. Your never out of the game with players like Brown on the floor. Will do a 5th year next year. Grade M/M+.
Point/Combo Guards
Jajuan Robinson - (5'11, Dunbar HS/Prince Avenue Prep, point guard). Offensively talented southpaw through unstopable penetration and streaky stroke that gets hot in crunch time. Despite his slight build he battles with bigger and stronger guards and wins. Excellent defender, scary athlete with strong handle and great court awareness. On court leader on defense as much as offense, can play at the Big Time level. Grade M+
Darnell Harris - (6'1 St Frances HS, combo guard). One of the best shooters in the country. Sinewy build, similar to Juan Dixon. Surprisingly good athlete that will go over a big man when you least expect it. Ran the point this summer for AAU team. Grade M+
Maurice Barksdale - (5'10, Dunbar HS/Blinn Juco, point guard). Very crafty and seasoned floor leader, nothing stands out about his physical game, he is mentally one step ahead of competition and his teams win. Can get his shot off and knows how to keep the pace of a game. Full qualifier out of Dunbar, plans to use one year in Juco to boost recruiting. Was a grade L/L+ but grade revised because he "gets the job done" against ALL competition. Grade M
Jack McClinton - (6'1, Calvert Hall HS/South Kent Prep, point guard). Just keeps getting better and tougher each time out. Very good scorer with vastly improved decision making. Has hit the weight room pretty hard and is developing the body to prove it. Full qualifier out of Calvert Hall, is using a post-grad year to boost recruiting. Likely to revise grade at end of season to reflect strong post grad season against top notch competition. Grade L+/M
Chester Frazier - (6'0, Lake Clifton HS, point guard). Chester is a very tough and determined guard, that understands how to play with talent (Rudy Gay, Jerome Johnson, Paris Carter, and Tavon Nelson are his Cecil Kirk AAU teammates). Chester is a muscular athlete that is still improving and knows hot to take care of the ball. Works hard on defense and is still improving. Chester can run a complicated offense. He maybe too unselfish of a player. Chester will likely use a post-grad year next year because he is young for his grade. Grade L+
Jesse Brooks - (5'10, Archbishop Spalding HS, point guard). Jesse is a throwback point guard that looks to bring the ball up court and set up the offense. Is capable of draining three pointers but doesn't take many shots, considering he plays on an offensively talented high school and AAU team. Doesn't turn the ball over and can weave through any press designed. Grade D2/L
Jerrell Green - (5'11, Southern HS, point guard). Jerrell is another well built point that has his best ball ahead of him. Jerrell is a tough competitor that gets after it on defense and is patient on offense. He has seen all types of competition in AAU and Baltimroe public league games. Jerrell works hard and understands his role in winning. Grade L
Jermaine Bolden - (5'7, Douglass HS, point guard). Tough as nails competitor do anything for the win, never intimadated. Has long arms and get his share of deflections. Good scorer, can get by any defender, and plays hard defense. Grade L/L+
Mitch Guest - (5'10, Glen Burnie HS, point guard). Another steady point guard that know how to win. He has a strong body with long arms that allows him to play taller than he is. Very mentally tough, and deceptivly quick. Good scorer, sneaky penetrator. Mitch quietly stuffs the stat sheet. Grade L/L+
